The village of Kournas is medium-sized located 46km east of Chania, 23km west of Rethymno and 9km south of Georgioupolis. During high season the village is very well organized and all the necessary touristic facilities are offered to the visitors. There are shops, mini markets, pharmacies, taverns, restaurants and bars in the centre of the village. Off-season the local shops are still open, as well as some bars, and daily bus transfer to the towns of Chania and Rethymno is available, making it a comfortable place to stay all year round.
