The area is a seaside, quiet village which is built along the old national road, 15 km west of Chania. The most of the touristic accommodation is located between the old national road and the sea.It has kept its old charm with small pensions and taverns next door to farms and fields. Within small driving distance is the cosmopolitan place Platanias, where the choices of shops, cafes and restaurants are vast. Further on one will find the charming and beautiful town of Chania, an exquisite site with an important historical background; a town that has kept its nobility and unique ambience alive.
One very important aspect of the village is the small river which passes through it to the sea. The centre of the village is quite widespread and it is built around the cross point of the provincial road to Modi with the old National Road. One can find many cafes and restaurants, petrol station and mini-shops. You can also visit in a walking distance the nearby villages of Platanias and Agia Marina that offer a variety of choices for entertainment. The long sandy beach on the north of the village gains ground every year.
