Entering this traditional Cretan village house at the ground floor one will come into a big kitchen / dining area and the living area at the rear. Next to it are two (2) extra rooms with a traditional arch, which are currently only accessible from the external area, but can easily be interconnected; furthermore find a terrace, and the toilet as usually in the past, in the outside area.

At the upper floor are two (2) big rooms and exit to a big terrace enjoying unobstructed views of the mountains.

Electricity and water have been disconnected, but the services are close by, as well as phone service.

The property for sale is accessible via a small path (2m), and the biggest part of the land is quite sloping and has some nice big trees on it. The building is not detached, and connected with other old village houses. The neighbour has the right to use the same footpath leading to the house.

The old village maintains aspects of traditional Cretan village architecture and there are several Byzantine churches. The lake of Kournas is the only natural sweat water lake on Crete and a popular destination. In the village one will find kafenia, taverns & mini market whilst in the village of Kavros (approx. 4km) the town hall, super market, beach and regular bus transfer to the towns of Rethymno and Chania are available.

Chania - Apokoronas - GEORGIOUPOLIS
Georgioupolis is a tourist, seaside village built in a plush green area at the foot of the Almiros river. The village was named after Prince George, the supreme commissioner of Crete. The beach has nice sand and is about 10 km long. Many hotels have been built on it.
Kournas Lake
Worth visiting at 5 km inwards, visitors can see the sole lake of Crete, called Kournas lake (about 65 hectares size). The lake is found among hills and rowing is very popular in the lake. The ancient name of the lake was Korissia Athena and it is said that there was once a sanctuary of the same name, although thereis no proof at this present time.
You can get to Georgioupolis by Suburban bus service from Chania or if you take the national road towards Rethimno (38 km South-East of Chania).
