'We Do Local' Gives Greek Tourism Ventures Stamp of Approval

In efforts to upgrade the Greek tourist product and ensure that quality standards are being met, a new accreditation body has been set up in collaboration with tourist professionals of the island of Crete. The annual certification will initially be given to accommodation services.

Tourist sector professionals attended the launch of “Local Production and Hospitality”, a company owned by Giannis Vardinogiannis, on Thursday on ANEK Lines passenger ferry Kriti I, during which the first “We Do Local” certifications were awarded to Cretan tourism ventures.

In collaboration with accreditation body Cosmocert, social cooperative Local Food and Local Production and Hospitality, a certification standard titled “We Do Local” aims to promote local culture and cuisine, support local producers and human resources and respect the environment.

The following companies were the first to get certification: ANEK Lines KRITI I, Bluegr Minos Beach Art Hotel, Bluegr Sensimar Minos Palace, Bluegr Candia Park Village, Cactus Royal Spa Resort, Creta Maris Beach Resort, Apollonia Beach Hotel, Santa Marina Hotel, Sitia Beach Hotel, Enagron Cretan Ecotourism Village, Cavo Spada Luxury Resort and Spa, Santa Marina Beach Hotel, Grand Bay Beach Resort, Santa Marina Plaza Luxury Boutique Hotel, Lato Boutique Hotel, Minoa Palace Resort and Spa, Rethymno Mare and St. Nicolas Bay Resort Hotel and Villas.
