Greece - Rising tourist destination for the Baltic countries
With very auspicious messages for Greece emerging as tourist destination for the Baltic countries for the next season, held the International Exhibition TOUREST 2012 at the Exhibition Centre of Tallinn, on 17-19 February 2012 in which EOT Nordic Pavilion had a kiosk.
The annual exhibition TOUREST 2012 set a new attendance record of 26.080 visitors, compared to 2011 (23.734 visitors). The report consisted of 468 exhibitors, of which 26 represented one country (Austria, Belgium, Germany, Georgia, Greece, United Arab Emirates, Estonia, Japan, Indonesia, Spain, Israel, Italy, Cyprus, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Mauritius, Namibia, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, Czech Republic, Tunisia and Finland).
During the exhibition, the Director of the EOT Office Scandinavia, Finland and Baltic countries, Mr. Theodore Thalassinos as well as the staff of the Office had the opportunity to come in contact with representatives of major tour operators (Nova Tours, Aurinco ) and travel agents operating in the Baltic market. The companies referred to the increase that Greece shows as a tourist destination, saying that in 2011 an increase of 10% took place, while forecasts for the current season (13 May - 21 October) is based on pre-bookings and refer to a new growth of 10%.

In the exhibition, were held discussions with representatives of newspapers and media in Estonia and was noted that Greece was and still is a friendly, welcoming and safe country for visitors. The Greek tourism product is the most competitive, in terms of cost and quality of service which makes Greece an upcoming tourist destination for the Baltic countries.
