Increase of 20-25% of Israeli tourists in 2012
The Greek Tourism Organization EOT, participated in the 18th International Tourism IPTS, held on the 14th and 15th of February in Tel Aviv Israel, joined by 12 co-exhibitors. The IPTS Report is the largest annual exhibition in the eastern Mediterranean and was carried out under the auspices of the Israeli Ministry of Tourism.
The large participation of both professionals and the public and the very positive reception of the Greek participation highlighted the dynamics of the Israeli market for tourism in Greece, which reflected the estimated increase in incoming tourism to the range of 20-25% for 2012.
As part of the participation of the EOT at the exhibition, the general secretary of the organization, Mr. George Koletsos held meetings with the representatives of major Tour Operators such as Karcia Int., Ophir Tours, Tayelet Tours) and airline companies such as Israir, TAL Aviation, aiming to the promotion of the wider cooperation for the most effective promotion of the Greek tourism product.
Also, Mr. Koletsos gave a series of interviews to 8 tourism journalists, Channel 2 of the Israel's public television, newspaper HAARETZ and Channel 1of the Israeli radio of Jerusalem, achieving the maximum possible visibility and publicity of the competitive advantages offered by Greece as a tourist destination.
His full support to the mission of EOT offered the ambassador of Israel, Mr. Kyriakos Loukakis. The Greek pavilion was also visited by the international basketball player Theodoros Papaloukas, who supported the participation and lured crowds to visit Greece.
Commonplace for both the representatives of the organization and the co-exhibitors in the pavilion, is the need for planning and implementing actions for the further development of the Israeli market in tourism in Greece.
