Ease for Russian visitors

The creation of three new visa centers in Russia were announced by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr Pavlos Geroulanos from Moscow, who visited on the occasion the sixth exhibition of Intourmarket. In this way, the basis for issuing a visa to our country is consolidated and extended, which began last year, bringing a significant increase in Russian visitors to a very difficult year for Greek tourism. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has decided to invest in the growing Russian market, from which last year the country had an increase of arrivals of around 55%.

The arrivals at the airports of Greece rose from 251.000 in 2009 to 415.000 in the first nine months of 2010. The major policy to facilitate licensing visa has helped this development and the next stage is already in progress, in collaboration with the MFA. Specifically, Mr Pavlos Geroulanos during his meetings with media and tour operators, announced that the next three months, three new Russian visa centers will be opened, in the cities of Kazan, Samara and Krasnoyarsk to meet the rapid growth of the movement of Russians tourists to our country. A motion associated with the increased interest of Russian businessmen to develop projects and investments in Greece.
