Greece-attractive for investment in tourism

"Greece-attractive for investment in tourism"

Attractive for investment in tourism is Greece, according to a report by the World Economic Forum, in which our country is ranked 29th in the list of countries with the most attractive environment for the development of the tourism industry.

The report ranks 139 countries around the world based on 60 indicators, including the regulatory framework, safety, health, infrastructure, values, culture, protection of environmental and transportation. Switzerland is ranked first, followed by Germany and France is third, with the most attractive environment for the development of the tourism industry. The remaining positions of the top ten complete: Austria, Sweden, UK, USA, Canada, Spain and Singapore. Cyprus is situated in the 24th position.

From neighboring countries, Portugal is ranked on the 18th position, Malta on the 26th, Italy on the 27th, Croatia on the 34th, the 48th position is held by Bulgaria and the 50th by Turkey. The traditional destinations of North Africa such as Tunisia and Egypt, are declining in ranking due to the absence of growth but also because of the recent situation that is expected to have adverse effects within a short term.

As mentioned in the report, the tourism industry is slowly recovering from the world's economic crisis. The tourism industry looks into the future with cautious optimism  and seek new and innovative ideas for successful development.

In the meanwhile, Geneva's newspaper “Tribune de Genève”, published a reader's letter entitled "Let's go back to Greece," which calls the Swiss to be mobilized to visit "amazing" Greece, the beautiful antiquities, beaches and cuisine in order to save the country "by the carnage".
